OBITUARY

Eggen Olson was born March 15, 1882, and died October 22, 1932 at the age of 50 years, 7 months and 7 days. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith by Rev. Eggen, at Mona, Iowa. He was born in Lyle, but soon after moved with his parents to their farm west of Lyle, where he grew to manhood. For the past 20 years he has worked for the Illinois Central Railroad, where he was employed at the time he was taken sick. On October 11th, he was admitted to St. Olaf Hospital, where he submitted to an operation from which he failed to recover.

"The year of 1930 is the year of release for the Olson family." said Rev. Langehough, as he addressed the large number who assembled to attend the funeral of the late Amund Olson, Sunday afternoon. The Reverend took his text from the 15th chapter of Deuteronomy, and referring to the year of release, applied it to the passing of Mr. and Mrs. Amund Olson.

Miss Sophie Olson, for many years a resident of Lyle, passed away at a nursing home in Austin Feb. 24th at the age of 83. She was born in Norway, the daughter of Johan and Marie Olson, on March 21, 1867. In 1879 she came to Chicago with her parents, and in 1875 they moved to Lyle. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 27 at the Worlein Funeral Chapel by Rev. S. V. Gjervik. Interment at Pleasant Hill.

The death of Rasmus Nelson occurred at four o'clock last evening at the residence of his son-in-law, Peter Sander, in this village. Mr. Nelson was over 75 years of age, and it is thought the death of his wife and son only a few weeks ago, hastened his demise. He will be buried tomorrow, at eleven o'clock.

OBITUARY

Helmer Nelson, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Nelson, died at the hospital in Austin, Monday morning after a week's illness. The Monday previous he complained of feeling ill and consulted a doctor. He went home and helped a little with the binder, but Tuesday afternoon his condition became serious and he was taken to the hospital and operated on for appendicitis. During the week he showed signs of improvement but Sunday, it was apparent that he was failing, and, Monday, he passed away.

Funeral services for Mrs. Olven Nelson, 58, were held at Mona Lutheran church Saturday, November 3 with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating with interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Evelyn Henrietta Nelson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson, was born December, 17, 1903 at Mona, Iowa, and made her home in this community all her life.

At her home, two miles north of Lyle, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, Mrs. Mary Nelson, wife of Rasmus Nelson, aged 75 years.

Mrs. Nelson had been sick for several weeks with typhoid fever and had been slowly improving until it was thought she was out of danger, but she caught a severe cold which terminated in her untimely death. She leaves a sorrowing husband and twelve children to mourn her departure. The remains were interred in the new cemetery south of Mona last Saturday, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Eggen.

Mrs. Simon Myhre, 68, died Monday afternoon at her home in Lyle, following a short illness.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Norcross (Doris), Mason City, and Mrs. Clifford Wolcott (Nadine), Austin; three sons. Thomas of Aurora, Ill., Dale of Fairmont, Robert of Lyle.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon.

Funeral services for Chris Nelson, 72, who died Saturday, November 5, of a heart attack at his home in Mona, were held Tuesday, November 8, at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanford Stenson officiating.

Chris Nelson, the son of the late Christian and Marianna Nelson, was born December 28, 1882 on a farm near Mona. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Mona Lutheran church. He attended school in Mona.

This Past Week

Death struck twice in Mona this past weekend. Mr. Chris Nelson, age 72, passed away suddenly Saturday morning from a heart attack while he was dressing for breakfast. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Mona Lutheran church and burial was at the Pleasant Hill cemetery. There are no immediate survivors, only a brother, Pete Nelson and three half brothers and two half sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chris Nelson, 71, of Mona, who died in Austin Thursday Sept. 27 following a stroke, were held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley V. Gjervik officiaing.

Mrs. Chris Nelson, daughter of Andrew and Johanna Olson was born June 2, 1880 in Smoolene, Norway. In 1882 she came to this country with her parents and has since lived in the Mona community. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Mrs. Gladys Josephine Nelson, daughter of Hans and Bertha Helgeson, was born March 17, 1911, near Lyle, and passed away Nov. 22 1948, in Austin at the age of 37 yrs 8 months and 5 days.

She was baptized in early infancy and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran church by Rev. Henry Noss. She spent her girlhood in the Lyle vicinity where she attended Red Star school, and later graduated from Austin high school with the class of 1928.
