On the morning of Nov. 16, 2010, our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother, James (Jim) William Read, was called to rest with Christ.

Jim was born on April 19, 1923, to Martin and Inez (Long) Read in Spencer, Iowa. Jim was very active in 4-H, basketball, and was the Iowa Boys’ State representative for Arnolds Park, where he graduated and also met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Juanita Delores Reynolds.

OSBORN.

At his home in Cedar City, Feb. 28, 1903, of cancer, Welcome Osborn, aged 78 years. He has been in failing health for over two years, and for much of the time has suffered intensely and death came as a sweet relief.

He was born near Montreal, Canada, Jan. 11, 1825, being the oldest son of Isaac and Sarah Osborn. Early left without a father's care, he learned self-dependence and knew from boyhood what hard and constant toil was.

OSBORN.

At the residence of her son, near Cedar City, Saturday, March 12, 1898, Mrs. Sarah Chandler, relict of Isaac Osborn, aged 93 years.

She was born in Canada July 11, 1804. She was the mother of three children, Welcome, John and Amelia. Amelia died in Wisconsin, Rock county, 1856. John and Welcome with their families and mother came to Mower county in the fall of 1856. Mrs. Osborn always made her home with Welcome at Cedar City and in Lyle township and died in Austin township.

John Osborne

John Osborne passed away at the home of Miss Deming Saturday March 17, 1917, of heart failure. He had been about as usual and was out in the yard walking around and on entering the house sank into a chair unconscious. Dr. Leck was called but he had passed away before his arrival. He was born November 2, 1851, and was one of a family of ten children, all of whom are living except his brother George who died last September. He was generally known as Uncle John. The funeral services were held Tuesday at the Chapel, conducted by Rev. Mahoney.

George E. Osborn died Thursday at St. Olaf hospital of cancer of the bowels. Deceased was born in Cedar City 53 years ago and has always lived near Austin. His father and mother are dead but he was the first of a family of ten children to pass away. His sisters and brothers are John and Arad Osborn and Mrs. Melissa Evans of this city, Wm. of Underwood, Minn., Chas. and Herb. S. of Bellingham, Wash., Henrietta Marsh of Reading, Mich., Nancy J. of Vassar, Manitoba and Stephen of Baraboo, Wis.

Services for William H. Nordland, 88, editor of the Lyle Tribune, Lyle, Minn., for more than 50 years, who died Thursday, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Albin Mortuary with burial in Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Hannah Dahlen, and three brothers, Pearly, Albert, and Dr. Martin Nordland, all
of Minneapolis.

Alan Ray, age 54, of rural Lyle, MN, died Oct. 6, 2001 at his home near Lyle.

While living in Mpls, Alan worked as a pharmacist and district manager for K-mart Corp. In of May 1990, he and his wife Kandyce moved to rural Lyle, where Alan continued to work for K-mart and in 1998 joined Target as a pharmacist and district manager.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. V. H. Barnes, Lyle; Mrs. E. E. Greene, Minneapolis;
Joy, Indiana, Pa., and Ruth, La-Grange, Ill., and a son, Ross, Chevy Chase, Md.

Reviewal will be from 4 p.m. Thursday at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary.

Memorials to the charity of the donor's choice are preferred.

Services for Arnt B. Pedersen 76, Mound, who died Monday were today with burial in Six mile Grove Cemetery, Lyle Minn.

Mr. Pedersen was born in Norway. He was self-employed painting contractor.

Surviving are his widow, Lillian; a brother, John, Plymouth and a sister, Mrs. Hedvig Angelikis, Minneapolis.

Word has been received of the death Monday in Austin, Minn., of Mrs. Constance Goldberg, 44, former physical education instructor at University of Minnesota.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Savior's Lutheran church, Austin, with burial in Six Mile Grove cemetery, Lyle, Minn.

Survivors include her husband, Phil; a son, Richard; a daughter, Virginia Goldberg: her father, John H. Bovim, all of Austin; a brother, Paul T. Bovim, Minneapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Windahl, Kensington, Minn.

GEORGE OLIVER EASTLEE

Services for George Oliver Eastlee, 71, Lyle, Minn., who died in an Austin, Minn., hospital Jan. 21, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Worlein mortuary, Austin. Reburial will be at the Six Mile Grove cemetery, Lyle, this spring.

Mr. Eastlee, who was a resident of Lyle for many years, is survived by a sister, Mrs. Clara Orchard, and a daughter, Mrs. Robert Thomsen, Austin; a brother, Raymond Eastlee, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Marian Bauser, Seattle, Wash., and a son, Frazer E. Eastlee, Minneapolis.
