in Austin, Minnesota Tuesday, January 9 for a former Lyle business man, Ingewahl F. Dahl, age 85, now of Austin, at the Congregational church with the Rev. Edwin J. Arnold officiating and interment was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Dahl suffered a heart attack Sunday morning while he and his wife were enroute to church and died immediately.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans H. Dahl and was reared in the Otranto area.

Funeral services were held for a Lyle man, Charley Henderson, age 74, in St. Paul, Minn. Saturday, December 23. He died in Veterans hospital in Minneapolis, Tuesday, December 19 where he had been a patient since November 1.

Interment was in Fort Snelling cemetery.

Mr. Henderson came from Ames near Ames, Iowa in 1920 and was a farmer and carpenter in the Lyle area during his residency.

Funeral services for Miss Anna Arneson, 87, were held Monday, December 4 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating and interment was in Six Mile Grove, Lutheran cemetery.

Anna Arneson, daughter of Lars and Martha Arneson was born February 20, 1874 on a farm in Nevada township. She resided there until her parents moved to Lyle in 1926, where she had resided up to the time of her death December 1.

Funeral services for Paula Marie, 10-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hughbert Barclay were held Saturday, April 22 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating. Interment was at Woodbury Cemetery west of Lyle.

Paula Marie was born April 10. A heart condition was discovered after she returned home from the hospital, and she was returned there for observation. She was baptized at the hospital April 19 and passed away the following day.

Funeral services for a former Lyle Township woman, Mrs. Gena A. Rawn, 72, were held at Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin Saturday, August 5 with the Rev. Charles Pausley officiating, with interment in Woodbury cemetery west of Lyle.

She died at St. Olaf hospital in Austin from a lingering illness August 2.

Gena A. Hanson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Hanson, was born at Nashua, Iowa, December 24, 1888. Later her parents moved to Lyle township when she was eight years of age where she grew up and attended the Minnereka school.

Funeral services for David Merle Heard, age 17, who was fatally injured Friday evening, July 7 in a car accident near Austin, Minnesota were held Monday, July 10.

David Merle Heard, eldest son of Merle and Eileen (Nelson) Heard, was born September 19, 1943 at Austin, Minn. He was baptized in infancy at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church east of Lyle and confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran church in Austin, Minnesota.

Funeral services for a former Lyle resident, Clair Jorgenson, age, 39, of Newark, New Jersey were held at Worlein Funeral Home at Austin, Minnesota Saturday, June 10 with the Rev. M. H. Averbeck of the Bethel Alliance church in Lyle officiating. Interment was in Six Mile Grove Lutheran cemetery east of Lyle. The Lyle American Legion Post had charge of Military rites.

Clair Eugene Jergenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Jorgenson was born on a farm in Mitchell county near Mona July 8, 1922.

Dr. George R. Melzer, M. D., 81, who had practiced medicine in Lyle since 1916 died at White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Sunday, April 30 where he had been hospitalized since January 2, 1961.

He retired from practice about eighteen months ago and he and his wife moved to White Bear Lake last year where they celebrated their golden wedding August 15, 1960.

Funeral services were held there Wednesday, May 3, and interment was in Mason City.

Idore Torgeson Rites In Alaska

A former Lyle man, Idore Torgeson, age 60, of Ketchikan, Alaska was buried there March 6 after being shot to death by Ernest A. Pinkerton also age 60, an Alaska Pulp Mill employee.

Torgeson and his wife, who operated a Bar, were enroute home when Torgeson was shot at close range while they were walking home near the Presbyterian church.

Torgeson had refused serving him more drinks just before closing time. Pinkerton has been charged with second degree murder.

Knute Rue, age 93, a lifelong resident of the Six Mile Grove area, died at his farm home east of Lyle February 22 from infirmities of old age. He had been in failing health for several years.

Knute Rue, the son of Ole and Andi Rue, was born March 21, 1867 on the same farm that he had lived all his life. He was baptized and confirmed in Six Mile Grove Lutheran church and was engaged in farming until his health failed.

Funeral services for Peter Norregaard age 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Norregaard, northwest of Lyle who died Saturday, December 17, from a heart condition caused by too much cholesterol in the blood where held on Wednesday at 1 P. M. December 21, at Our Savior Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating with interment in Woodbury cemetery west of Lyle.

Funeral services for Theodore Enerson, 71, were held Friday, December 2 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating and interment was in the church cemetery.

Mabel Nelson Enerson, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin D. Nelson, was born September 30, 1889 in Nevada township, Mower county, Minnesota where she also attended grade school and grew to womanhood, and spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was baptized and confirmed at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church.

Funeral services for Mrs Sarah Nelson, 90, who died Saturday, November 12, were held Tuesday, November 15 at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating.

Mrs. Signe (Sarah) Nelson, daughter of Tollef and Toni Borgen, was born in Fyresdal, Telemarken, Norway July 13, 1870. In her native land she was baptized, confirmed and grew to womanhood.

In July, 1896 she and her brother Austin, emigrated to America and settled at Rose Creek, Minnesota where they had relatives

Funeral services for a former Lyle resident, Mrs. Amanda Wedeking, 67, were held Wednesday, November 16 at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. Arthur Swenson officiating. Interment was in Grand View Memorial Gardens at Austin.

Mrs. Wedeking, who had lived in the Lyle area until four years ago when she moved to Austin, died there from a lingering illness Sunday night.

Survivors are her three sons, Walter, Donald and Willis, all of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

Mrs. Sarah Nelson, age 90, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Wolff at Myrtle, Minnesota Saturday November 12, from infirmities of old age, having been bedridden a week prior to her death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 15 at Six-Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating with interment in the church cemetery.

Clara Marie Jacobson, age 71 who passed away at the Falk Nursing Home in Stacyville June 29, was laid to rest Friday July 1. Services were at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Klemesrud was in charge of the committal rites. She had been hospitalized at the Mercy hospital in Mason City where she had surgery April 13, and never recovered.

FUNERAL RITES FOR SLINDE INFANT

Funeral services for one-month-old Michael Allan Slinde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Slinde were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18 at the Adams Funeral home in Adams, Minn., with the Rev. Truman Mohn officiating. Interment was in Six-Mile Grove Lutheran cemetery.

Michael Allan was born May 19 at Memorial hospital in Osage and had a serious heart condition right after birth. At the age of two weeks he was taken to the University hospital in Minneapolis where he died Thursday, June 16, following heart surgery the day before.
