ST. ANSGAR, Iowa -- The funeral for Eugene M. Hofland will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Schroeder &; Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa. Mr. Hofland, 93, of St. Ansgar, died Monday (Sept. 19, 2005) at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Clara Helgerson (sic), 99, of Austin, dies

AUSTIN ---- Clara Helgerson, 99, of 2004 First Ave. N.E., died Sunday (July 2, 1995) at St. Marks Lutheran Home in Austin.

She was born Jan. 25, 1896, in Lyle. She attended Red Star School in rural Lyle and farmed with her brother in the Lyle area until 1975 when she moved to Austin. Mrs. Helgeson was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Lyle.

She is survived by a sister, Helen Silbaugh of Austin. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Henry B. Helgeson, 88, Austin, dies

AUSTIN -- Henry B. Helgeson, 88, of 2004 First Ave. S.E., a retired Lyle-area farmer, died Saturday (June 19, 1993) at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin.

He was born Jan. 24, 1905, at Lyle.

Survivors include two sisters, Clara Helgeson and Helen Silbaugh, both of Austin.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, with the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.

Mrs. Frank Harder

Mrs. Frank Harder was born Sept. 23, 1890, in Mitchell county, Iowa, and passed away in a hospital in Kalispell, Montana, following a paralytic stroke on Dec. 15, 1926.

She was baptized by Rev. J. M. Eggen at Lyle, Minn. At the age of 7 years she went to live with her sister, Mrs. Ole Onnestad, and was confirmed by Rev. Better of Superior. She was a graduate of the superior Wis. high school in 1910 and of the Superior state normal in 1912. She taught school at Alma Center, Wis., Whitefish, Mont., and Miles City, Mont.

VIEW CUT OFF BY CLOSED CAR

Car Collided with Illinois Central Train at Crossing A Mile South of Lyle.

O. N. Hagna of Austin was fatally injured early Saturday afternoon, when a truck he was driving crashed into a northbound Illinois Central passenger train, at a crossing a mile south of Lyle. The train crew brought the injured man to Lyle, from where an ambulance rushed him to St. Olaf's hospital here. He died late Saturday, not having regained consciousness.

Clara T. Haas -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Clara T. Haas will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Mona, Iowa.

Mrs. Haas, age 100, of Austin, a former Lyle-area farm homemaker, died Saturday evening (March 24, 2001) at Our House Assisted Living Center in Austin.

Mrs. Lars Nelson died

Mrs. Lars Nelson of Lyle, died on Sunday, April 29th, after a short illness and was buried the Thursday following. She leaves a husband and five small children to mourn her death, besides a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Mrs. Nelson was a sister-in-law of Mrs. A. E. Olsen of this township.

Funeral Held For Mrs. Eddie Fossey

FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. EDDIE FOSSEY

Funeral Services were held Monday for Mrs. Eddie Fossey, 75, of near Lyle, who died Thursday at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.

Rev. M. Johnson, pastor, was in charge of the services at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, and burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery there.

Ella Haugen was born on June 30, 1895, at Kasson, Minnesota, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knut Haugen.
She was married to Eddie Fossey on November 28, 1915. They had lived in the Lyle vicinity all of their married life.

Donald J. Finnegan, 54, of Lyle dies

LYLE -- Donald J. Finnegan, 54, of Lyle died Friday (Sept. 16, 1994) at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin.

Survivors include a son, Patrick J. of Cleveland, Texas; two daughters, Wendy (Mrs. Matt) Dingley of Kearney, Neb., and Kasey Finnegan of Austin; four grandchildren; and a brother, Jack of West Melbourne, Fla.

The funeral was today at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 105 of Lyle.

Morget Jorgenson funeral

The funeral of Mrs. Morget, widow of Svend Jorgenson, took place Dec. 3, at the home in Nevada township. Deceased was born in Norway, Nov. 16, 1816, and was over 91 years old. She settled in Nevada township in 1853. Five children survive, Jorgen Jorgenson, Mrs. John Bergerson, Mrs. Knut Amundson, Mrs. G. K. Volstad, Mrs. Ole Peterson.

Mrs. Esser died

Mrs. Esser, the beloved wife of Rev. N. N. Esser, pastor of the Lutheran church, died Dec. 2, after a long season of illness, age 28. She was married in 1902 and lived in Scandinavia, Wis., for four years. They came here about two years ago. Funeral services were held Thursday conducted by Rev. Waldeland, assisted by Rev. J. M. Eggen.

Henry Dahl obituary

Henry Gustav Dahl, born in Orfordville, Wisconsin, Oct. 1, 1871, passed away at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minnesota, on Nov. 13, 1956, after a brief illness. Mr. Dahl, was 85 years of age at the time of his death, which terminated 64 years of active business life, 11 years of which were spent in the hardware and implement line.
