Joseph Attlesey, well-known Stacyville mill operator and auctioneer, was found dead, sitting at the wheel in his car in his garage at his home on Monday morning.
Sunday morning he told his son, Harry, and wife, with whom he made his home; that he was going to Mitchell to spend the day with his sister, Mrs. Mary Warrington. They, too, left on a little trip, and when they arrived home and found him still away, supposed that he had stayed that night at his sister's home.
Harry Attlesey of Lyle dies at 88
LYLE ---- Harry Attlesey, 88, of Lyle, longtime owner of the Lyle blacksmith shop, died Friday evening (July 7, 1995) at Good Samartitan Nusring Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
He was born Sept. 19, 1906, in rural Austin. On Jan. 1, 1929, he married Isabel Webber in Austin and they lived in Austin and Stacyville, Iowa, before moving to Lyle. He then worked for A &; S Machines, operated a portable feed mill, and for 46 years before his retirement at age 84 owned the Lyle blacksmith shop. He enjoyed working on the farm and gardening.
Daniel M. Attlesey — Rochester
ROCHESTER — Daniel M. Attlesey, 89, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Maple Manor in Rochester.
Dan was born Sept. 10, 1919, to Joseph and Mary (Warrington) Attlesey. Dan married Wanda Kittleson on June 30, 1940. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He worked at Hormel in Austin for 42 years. Dan enjoyed retirement at the lake home, outdoor activities, horses, and especially loved spending time with his family.
Robert L. Anderson Jr. -- Austin
AUSTIN — A memorial service for Robert L. Anderson Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery, rural Austin.
Mr. Anderson, 57, of Austin, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2007) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
THE OBITUARY OF MRS. MARTHA GOULD
Martha Anderson Gould, daughter of John and Maggie Anderson, was born in Norway on November 5, 1842, and died on February 6, 1928, aged 85 years, 3 months and 1 day, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. C. Frank at Rudd, Iowa.
She was married in 1864 to Cohn Gould, living first in St. Ansgar and Newburg townships, later moving to Otranto township, where she resided with her children, living a greater part of the time with her son Ed at St. Ansgar. Her husband passed away from this life in 1895.
The funeral of Mrs. Engebregt Johnson was held at the church Tuesday conducted by Rev. Eggen and laid to rest in the Sunny side cemetery. She leaves an aged husband, three sons and two daughters to mourn the loss.
Obituary of Julia Nelson.
Died at the home of her sister, Mrs. R.C. Rustad at Mona, Iowa, Wednesday morning, October 21, 1903, of quick consumption, Miss Julia Nelson, aged 23 years and ten months.
She is a daughter of C. M. Nelson and leaves besides her father, two sisters, Mrs. R. C. Rustad and Mrs. Thos. Phillips, and six brothers: Christian, Mads, Peter, Fred, Chris and Henry, to mourn her death.
M. O. Wilson died at 8:30 Tuesday morning, Jan. 29, at his home one mile north of town, at the age of 69 years. He was one of the oldest and most enterprising merchants of this place having been in the general merchandise business here since 1875.
A year ago he had an attack of the la grippe which affected his lungs and from this he never recovered. During the summer he sought medical aid from eminent physicians, but of no avail, and he gradually faded away.

AUSTIN -- There will be a memorial service for Helen Silbaugh at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Morotary Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Harold L. Usgaard officiating. A private family interment service will be conducted in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.
Mrs. Silbaugh, 91, of Austin, formerly of Lyle, died Wednesday (Aug. 18 1999) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.
Ole Runing (sic) of Minnereka was buried at Mona last Saturday.
Funeral is Monday for Genevieve Ross
LYLE -- The funeral for Genevieve Ross will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Clasen-Jordan Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Ralph Williams officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.
Mrs. Ross, 95, of Bellingham, Wash., formerly of Lyle, died Friday, (Nov. 29, 1996).
Harriett L. Reistad -- Austin
AUSTIN -- The funeral for Harriett L. Reistad will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. James I. Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.
Mrs. Reistad, 85, of Austin, a longtime piano teacher, died Saturday (May 22, 1999) at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.
Donald Peterson funeral is Wednesday
AUSTIN -- The funeral for Donald I. Peterson, 90, of 400 10th Ave. N.W., a former Hormel employee, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa. The VFW and American Legion will perform military rites.

LYLE -- Bennie Olson, 92, a resident of Burr Oak Manor in Austin and formerly of Lyle, died Wednesday morning (Dec. 1, 1993) at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin.
He was born July 4, 1901, in Lyle Township, Mower County, and lived in the Lyle area all his life before moving to Austin. Mr. Olson had several occupations, including farming and a position with the Lyle Police Department. He was married and later divorced.

Funeral services for Vernon Everrett Nelson, age 88, of Conger, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Church of St. Theodore in Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Mona, Iowa, with military honors accorded by the Lyle Legion Post 105. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Vernon died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in Ardmore, Okla.
Evelyn Nelson Funeral November 17
Funeral services for Evelyn Nelson, 83, formerly of Lime Springs, who died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, were held November 17, 2004.
Evelyn was born November 19, 1920 to Otto II and Alvina E (Walk) Braun. She was baptized and confirmed at Grafton Lutheran Church and attended grade school in the Grafton area, worked for local people and in 1941 boarded a train for California and married Clifford M. Nelson on December 31, 1941 at the Little Brown Church around the corner in Inglewood, California.

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Delores L. Morgan will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.
Miss Morgan, 64, of Heritage House in Lyle, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 1997) at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1932, in Lyle, she attended Lyle schools. She did domestic work in the Lyle area and took care of her parents until their deaths.
Gladys Meyer -- Austin
AUSTIN -- The funeral for Gladys Meyer will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Kristen K. Wee officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.
Mrs. Meyer, 86, formerly of Austin, died Monday (Sept. 13, 1999) at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie where she had resided 21 months.
CARL QUALLEY.
Carl Qualley of Lyle, died at 1:30 Sunday morning at St. Olaf hospital of acute appendicitis. He was about 17 years old and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Qualley. The body was taken to Lyle on the noon train Sunday. The funeral was held Tuesday.
Evangeline Krause, 82, Highgrove, dies
AUSTIN -- Evangeline H. Krause, 82, of Route 3, Highgrove, rural Austin, died Monday (Jan. 25, 1993) at her home.
Evangeline H. Dahl was born Oct. 20, 1910, in Lyle. She and her husband, Sterling, were crown direct distributors with Amway and founded Krause Missionary Fellowship. Mr. Krause died in 1986.
Survivors include two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Ross of Bellingham, Wash. A son preceded her in death.
Mildred Joan Klema -- Harmony
HARMONY -- A graveside service will be conducted for Mildred Joan Klema at 10 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.
Miss Klema, 79, of Kemp, Texas, formerly of the Harmony area, died Tuesday (April 27, 1999) at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana, Texas.
Survivors include two brothers, George Klema of Chatfield and Donald Klema of Kemp, Texas.
Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.
1909 Oscar Hofland 1953
Funeral services for Oscar Hofland, 44, of Toeterville, who died as the result of an automobile accident, near Mona, Wednesday, July 29, were held at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, Saturday, August 1, with Reverend Stanley V. Gjervik officiating.
Oscar Emmett Hofland was born July 10, 1909, in Union Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Elling and Gertrude (Engoseter) Hofland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church.
Horace Hofland
Horace Hofland, 22 years of age, a victim of influenza and pneumonia, passed away at his parent's home Wednesday evening about 8 o'clock. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf A. Hofland. Deceased was born near Lyle. The family moved to Austin two years ago.
